Lilliput HOe U class locomotive A change of scale Due to the purchase of some second hand HOe gauge locos and rolling stock Mepham Station has become a more diverse display. HOe is the European narrow gauge scale set at HO scale but running on n gauge track. This scale is also known as OO9 in England (set to OO scale) an is similar to the American HON3. So next time you see us you may have a surprise as we may be displaying our HOe models and scenery. For those who have not seen us previously the layout has been designed for exhibition usage with a hidden staging area from which a variety of trains can be prepared for viewing. Measuring 2400mm X 600mm it fits into many a small space at an exhibition requiring filling. A new section has been added over the fiddle yard complete with dual gauge HO and HOe track. Mepham Station has been constructed simply from styrenefoam blocks glue with PVC wood glue to a chipboard base. Joins in the blocks were filled with expanding foam then the landscape was shaped using a hacksaw blade. The resulting scenery was painted in a waterbased brown undercoat then coloured with earth coloured spray paint prior to the application of scatter material and model trees. The track was simply pinned to cork underlay and ballasted using a mixture of commercially coloured ballast grit and washed beach sand. To date the layout has been exhibited in South Australia at:
Base in the Adelaide Hills town of Strathalbyn. Mepham Station is a hobby not a business. Vist the Adelaide Model Railway Show internet site @ http://au.geocities.com/modelrailwayshow
